How this shortlist is built

Two steps, and neither invents a number. We keep only platforms that name Bitcoin among their accepted assets, then rank what’s left by its Degen Score — custody 30%, odds 30%, payout speed 25%, coin support 15%.

We credit what an operator lists, not what it implies. Several custodial books advertise things like “+140 more coins” without naming them. Those platforms may well accept Bitcoin — but until it is listed we don’t count it, the same rule we apply everywhere on this site. Check the operator’s own deposit page before funding anything.

The finding: your coin picks your custody model

This is the part worth sitting with. Betting is a custody decision before it is anything else — it carries 30% of the Degen Score for that reason. And with Bitcoin, the decision is made for you: every platform we can confirm accepts BTC operates a house-held balance.

The contrast is stark. Seven platforms list USDC, and six of those seven settle non-custodially. Same site, same twelve platforms, opposite answer — purely because of which asset you fund with. Bitcoin is the least on-chain-friendly way to bet on-chain, which is not the sentence most people expect.

Cloudbet — depth over sharpness

8.4, running since 2013, and the deepest pre-match coverage among crypto books — lower football divisions, wider hockey, markets the others skip. Margins run a little wider than Stake’s. Worth it if your betting lives outside the headline fixtures.

BC.Game — breadth of assets

8.1, and the widest coin support we score at 10.0, with 80+ sports alongside. Its bonus terms carry more conditions than most, so read them before opting in rather than after.

Vave — listed, not recommended

6.3. It appears here because it names BTC, and we list what platforms list. It scores poorly on custody because it presents as crypto-native while operating custodially — which our scoring treats as a mark against, not a neutral fact.

If you want BTC exposure without the custody

There is one route on this list, and it is worth knowing about: Overtime Markets accepts wBTC — wrapped Bitcoin, an ERC-20 token backed one-for-one by BTC. You get Bitcoin price exposure while betting on a non-custodial AMM that settles by smart contract across Optimism, Arbitrum and Base.

The honest caveats: wBTC is not Bitcoin. You are trusting whoever holds the backing BTC, which is its own counterparty question, and you need an EVM wallet rather than a Bitcoin one. But if the reason you wanted BTC was exposure rather than the Bitcoin network specifically, this is the only way on this list to have both that exposure and self-custody.

What actually matters when betting in Bitcoin

On-chain fees at busy times. Bitcoin network fees swing with congestion, which matters more for small or frequent deposits than for one large one.

Withdrawal policy, not withdrawal speed. All four here are custodial, so payout time is a policy question rather than a block-time one. That is what the payout sub-score measures.

Why do so few crypto sportsbooks take Bitcoin non-custodially?

On-chain betting settles through smart contracts, and Bitcoin's base layer does not support the kind of contracts these platforms use. Non-custodial books therefore live on EVM chains and Solana, where stablecoins are the natural unit.

Is it better to bet in Bitcoin or a stablecoin?
